J.F.K. Commissioned Building Turned Luxury Hotel

Charleston

The former Mendel Rivers Federal Building was re-purposed into an 8-story luxury hotel with 155 rooms in historic Charleston, South Carolina. The building was originally commissioned by President John F. Kennedy as a government office and opened in 1964. The developer rehabilitated the interior while preserving the building’s mid-century modern façade and exterior. The hotel opened in 2016 and features numerous amenities including a spa, cocktail lounge, meeting spaces, and ballrooms.
